Surprise Baby Shower: Fun fun fun!

Last July 9, I met with my HS friends at Mau's house.  What I thought as an ordinary barkada get-together turned out to be a surprise baby shower for Mylyne (she's almost 5 mos pregnant! yey!) and I.  And to think, Kit and I almost didn't want to show up because of the very bad weather.  Buti na lang, tumuloy pa din kami kung hindi...

So, of course we started the night with dinner! Can I just say Shirley's husband, James, makes a mean cookies and cream cheesecake! And blueberry cheesecake too! Talo pa kaming mga girls... Tsk tsk tsk...  After dinner, Lilette (our barkada president. yes, we have officers. and we have a name too --- C12 and 4M, the crazy 12 and the 4 musketeers.  hahaha!), revealed that it was a shower for My and I.  My and I were really shocked! We weren't the first ones to have kids, but this was the first time that our barkada had a baby shower.  So yes, My and I felt really grateful and happy and excited.  Thanks again guys! =)

The first game was "pin the sperm on the egg".  It was sooo fun! We were divided into groups, one member was blindfolded while the others served as "guides".  The thing was we cannot use any words.  Diskarte namin how we would guide our teammate without saying 'forward', 'left', 'right', etc.  And did I mention there were 3 groups?  So, imagine the chaos that ensued.  Kit's group by the way won! Galing! Hahaha!

Cathy, Kit and Pat in action...
Tatum, Lilette and Mau preparing for battle. =)
Next game was for us two couples, Me and Kit and Mylyne and Tatum.  I forgot what its called but the objective was to have more matched answers than the other couple.  And no, Kit and I did not win.  Hahaha.  Questions were about who do you want your baby to look like.  We got 8/10 while My and Tatum got 9/10.  So still, it wasn't bad.  Hahaha.

the Riveras.  Have I mentioned that we both have Rivera as surname? Galing no!
Next game was for the daddies-to-be, Kit and Tatum.  The game was "who put the diaper better", on Mickey Mouse that is.  Again, we lost.  Hahaha.  Kit was much faster but Tatum's diaper was much tighter.  According to our mommy friends, it should fit just right so as to avoid leaks.

Kit's finished product.  If it were up to me, it was absolutely perfect! =)
Fourth game was "guess the tummy size".  It was boys vs girls.  And of course, as always, the girls won! (Biased kung biased! hahaha!) Nobody got the correct size of both our tummies, but the girls' strings were closer to the right size than those of the boys.

my big big belly...
Fifth game was "baby word scrambler".  We were grouped again (same grouping as that of the first game) and given several scrambled words associated with babies.  The group with the most number of correct words win.  We were given 50 words which we were supposed to unscramble within 2 minutes.  Our group (Me, Pat and Tatum) got 21 words and placed second.  Not bad! Hahaha.

Cathy, Yeng and Mau in serious mode... They won btw.  Got 22 words!  =)
"Eat whatever's in the diaper" was the last game.  Again, we were grouped and given 2 diapers each.  As always, time is of the essence, and whoever finishes their food first wins.  We got a banana and a BIG raw tomato.  And again, we lost.  Hahaha! Kudos to James for eating 'betamax' that quickly! Galing!

And then, it was time for the gift-giving.

a pretty dress from tita shirley and tito james

girly 'onesie' from ninang let and tito pat

cutie socks from ninang mau, tito lewin and kuya migui
Again guys, thank you so much!  Kit and I truly had a blast.  Mylyne and Tatum too!  =)

cheers!

Us time, Me time

Just because we're already married doesn't mean that we cannot have any "me" time.  I'm so happy that Kit shares my view on having quality time with ourselves.  I'm not talking about I-have-to-go-away type of me time (that signifies a bit of trouble, don't you think?), but a simple few minutes or hours doing the things we love when we were still single.

As for Kit and I, we could be in the same room but doing different things. We are beside each other, but letting the other do his/her own thing.  That way, we can still sneak in some sweet gestures, be it holding hands or giving a quick kiss.  =)

I usually read while Kit surfs the net.  Or... see the pictures below...

Kit plays with his PS3 while I play Cityville.  Hahaha!

or we both read...

currently, Kit reads Diary of a Wimpy Kid (i'm done with it and i kinda liked it! at least, its light and somehow funny), while I read Captivating, Unveiling the Mystery of a Woman's Soul.  And of course, the ever present in our bedside table, Your Week by Week Guide to Pregnancy. =)

Belly belly BIG

I realized I haven't been posting much of my pregnancy pics.  Just to let you know, my tummy is really BIG now.  I look like I swallowed a whole watermelon, if not bigger. Let the pictures do the talking.  These by the way, are taken during my birthday 2 weeks ago.  I was 28th weeks pregnant then.

Pardon the blurry pics, these are taken using a camera phone.  Again, we forgot to bring our beloved digicam.  Oh well...

Now, my dilemma... How to control my rapid weight gain???  And to think, I'm cutting down on my sweets (huhuhu!) intake...

1st Time Shopping for Baby Things

Last friday, June 10, was the first time Kit and I bought things for Kaelyn.  I love that hubby enjoys looking and shopping for baby things.  It really makes me love him even more.  Major pogi points talaga!  =)

We went to Mothercare Shangrila to buy an Avent starter set for Kaelyn.  But instead, we bought the Avent steriliser because it was on sale! Yey!  We would have bought their starter set also but the box was dented and it was the only stock.  Maarte kami pareho so we decided not to buy it muna.  Haha.  But since we're itching to buy the starter set already, we decided to go to Baby Company in Podium.  And to our surprise, they were on sale!  The steriliser had the same price as that in Mothercare but the starter set at Baby Company is 10% off! And they have new stocks.  Double yey!!  So, we bought it and an Avent milk dispenser too.  We also got a free Avent magic cup.  Really, a good night!!! =)

One feature that I like best is that its supposed to give baby less colic.  Hope it's true.

The milk dispenser and FREE magic cup!

We also bought a swaddle me blanket.  =)

Isn't this cute?!
Till our next shopping! =)

Happy Birthday To Me

I celebrated my 30th birthday yesterday.  I can't believe I'm in my 30s already.  I used to love saying pa nman na I'm still in my 20s.  Hahaha. Anyway enough of the age talk.  After all, age is just a number. =p

It was different celebration for me in the sense that I celebrated with my hubby alone.  I used to celebrate my past birthdays with my family, but this time, Kit and I wanted to celebrate it as husband and wife only.  After all, its the first time we'll celebrate it as a married couple.  (My celebration with my family will be on Friday so all is well. =))

We both had to work the whole day so it was just a birthday dinner. We met up at Gateway Mall since he's in that vicinity and its much nearer to my place of work.  We bought some yummy bread at Bread Talk and proceeded to Crowne Galleria Hotel where he would treat me at 7 Corners Restaurant.  A bit of trivia, in our almost 7 years of being together, this is the first time we'll eat at a fine dining restaurant.  Hahaha.  Anyway, let's go straight to the food selection.  Oh boy, was it a lot!  I was sooo tempted to try the crab and the lobster, but since I'm pregnant and is allergic to seafoods, I had to restrain myself.  =(  Side kwento:  I love crabs!  One of my favorites ever!  Eventhough I'm allergic to it, I can't seem to stop myself from eating it.  My bestfriend during those crab-eating days --- an antihistamine.  Hahaha. So back to the food selection... I also tried to stir away from the Japanese food area since I read somewhere sushi isn't good for pregnant women because of the raw ingredients.  So off we went to the steak area.  Kit loved it!  Steaks are his favorite.  We ordered two three steaks and two lamb chops.  Sulit na agad!  We also got some fried noodles and penne arrabiata.  I liked the fried noodles but the pasta was a bit too spicy for our taste.  Oh, but their salad is divine!  You see, hubby and I are not salad-persons simply because we are not veggie lovers.  But last night's salad is so yummy that we had to go for a second serving.  Too bad, we weren't able to try the other selections.  We easily got so full!  So after resting for a few minutes, we went after their desserts.  We tried their coffee and strawberry ice creams, leche flan, strawberry shortcake, chocolate cake and a vanilla cake.  Being a dessert person, I totally loved them all!  I just can't eat more than a few bites because I have to monitor my sweet (sugar) intake.  Oh well...  Definitely, next time! =)

The yummy salad!

*Pardon the blurry pictures, i forgot to bring my camera.  =(

Anyway, it still is one of the best birthdays ever!  I have a loving, caring and supportive husband beside me  and the best birthday gift ever, a baby coming soon.  What more can I ask for?!  =)

Of Baby's Things

As my ticker says, I'm now 27 weeks and 2 days pregnant.  Wow, that's almost 7 months, meaning I'm nearing my third trimester already! How time flies! =)

Hubby and I are on the lookout for Kaelyn's things.  We've settled our hearts on a Chicco Cortina (Fuego) stroller, car seat and play yard.  We've already asked his brother and his mom who are now in the States to buy it for us.  Its much cheaper there plus they don't carry the color that we like here.  Can't wait to see it and see how Kaelyn looks like riding in her stroller.  I just hope Kaelyn likes it.  I've heard of stories kasi of some babies refusing to ride in their stroller or car seats.  Uh oh...

We've also settled on buying Avent for Kaelyn's feeding bottles, pacifier and sterilizer.  Like the Chicco Cortina, Avent is so expensive here!!! I just hope they really are worth it.  It just alarms me that they have a lot of negative feedbacks on the net, mostly that it leaks.  But a friend told me that you shouldn't overtighten the lid because that's when leaks happen.  Otherwise, it is highly durable, is BPA-free, gives babies less colic and she's satisfied with it.  So, yes, we're convinced! =)

A month ago, I showed hubby Tommy Tippee feeding bottles at SM Megamall.  But hubby ignored it saying he hasn't heard of the brand and he likes Avent already.  (Side kwento:  Hubby initially liked Chicco feeding bottles but then I introduced Avent and told him that a lot of my friends are using it for their babies and is highly recommended.  He checked it over the internet, and lo and behold, he fell in love with it too.  As in, he would check their site every time!  And check actual stocks at the mall.  Haha.)  Then, a few nights ago, I was surprised that he was checking Tommy Tippee's site.  And yes, he's beginning to like them too.  Especially the pink bottles.  Bagay na bagay daw kay Kaelyn.  =) Like Avent, they are a UK brand and quite expensive here in the Philippines.  The only problem that we see is that only a few stores carry their brand here, it might pose a problem just in case we need to buy additional items or replacement.  Baka laging walang stock...  So now, we're vent on buying Avent.

We also found this cute magnetic board that you put on cars that says, "Baby on Board" by Safety 1st.  Wala lang, i know its so mababaw, but we really find it so cute! Hahaha!

And of course, Kaelyn's clothes!  She's a girl after all! There are a LOT of cute baby dresses and bodysuits (I actually thought they were called 'onesies', yun pala Onesies is a brand. Haha. Silly me!).  We haven't bought any clothes yet as we thought, its too early.  But for sure, within the month we'll start buying already, especially the ones that Kaelyn's going to use in the hospital when she's born.

I can't wait!!!!!!!!  I'm so excited to see our little one! =)
