Caricature and Wedding Map

After almost 2 months, we finally got our caricature and wedding map from Graphizar.  Here it is:

The concept of the caricature is Formula 1 Singapore since it was our first out-of-the-country trip back in 2008.  Plus, Kit is really a big McLaren and Lewis Hamilton fan.

I wasn't really planning to use the caricature in our wedding, just a gift for Kit, but I figured it's such a waste if we'll not be able to incorporate it in our wedding items, so I thought it might be a good idea to use it as table numbers. I'll just crop the picture and figure out a way to add numbers on it.  Hmm... Is it too late to change into a car race theme??? Instead of actual numbers, we could use names of cars or F1 teams or drivers to serve as table numbers.  Whatchathink???

As for the map, I really like the 'Start' and 'Finish' icons inserted by Graphizar.  It really looked like a race. Thanks Noel and Krisel. :-)

OT: Show Me Your Oldest Photo Contest by Yugatech

This is my first time to join a Yugatech contest.  Nothing wrong in hoping and wishing to win a 14-megapixel GE X5 digital camera. :-)

My Grade 1 class picture in St. Scho Marikina way back in February 10, 1988.

Can you spot me? I'm 4th from the right, first row.  Yes, with the falling-strap jumper! :-p

On Marriage License Application, Invitations, Caterer and Mobile Bar

09.24.10 (Friday)

The day started with Kit picking me up from Marikina at 6am.  I know, Ortigas to Marikina to Parañaque, what a long drive! Buti na lang, Kit really loves me! Hahaha. Cheesy! :-)  Anyway, since it was early, we were at Parañaque City Hall by 7:30am. When we got there, some of the employees were doing their morning exercise/dance.  It really helped in passing time.  How can you not subtly dance ('subtly' being the operative word) to the tune of "Let's Get Loud", "Shake Body Body Dancer", "Chiquita" etc?!  :-p

By 8am, we were the first in line.  We were given 3 copies of Application Forms to fill up then they asked us to have it notarized at the nearby Sta. Lucia Building.  They asked if we were already done with our pre-cana seminar and we showed them our Discovery Weekend Certificate.  They accepted it so no need for us to attend their family planning seminar.  Yey! The last step was to pay P200.00 marriage license fee and we're done! We'll get our marriage license on October 5, 2010.  All that for less than 30 minutes! What a good way to start the day! :-)

Kit filling up his side of the form.
Our filled up Marriage License Application Form!  Nakakakilig pala makita 'to! Hahaha!
We then went to Kit's house in Parañaque for breakfast and lunch.  We didn't really anticipate that we'll be done in 30 minutes so we had a lot of morning free time.

Around 1 pm, we went to Print Divas in Shaw Boulevard to finalize our invitation.  We were quite disappointed that we won't be able to have the letterpress invites that we really want.  Why? Well, because apparently we lack time.  Letterpress invites requires 1 month printing, and we're still in the revision stage.  We still had comments/corrections on the second draft they gave us.  Hopefully, after Friday's meeting, the next draft they send us will be the final one...

To the other couples who haven't done their invitations yet, just want to give you an idea how long it usually takes.  We met with Print Divas last week of August, submitted our wedding details and entourage list on Sept. 1, got the 1st draft on Sept. 17, submitted revisions on Sept. 19, got the 2nd draft last Sept. 23, submitted 2nd draft revision during our meeting with them last Friday, Sept. 24.  We are now awaiting the 3rd, hopefully the final draft anytime soon.  We just didn't anticipate the time it would took for all the revisions and printing.  We thought more than 2 months is enough time for a letterpress invitation... Oh well...

In fairness to Print Divas, they are not saying outright that we can't, they are just presenting us with a possible scenario that we might  not have enough time to distribute it to our guests.  Letterpress invitation takes a month or 28 working days to print, and even though we still have roughly 2 months before our wedding,  Kit and I decided not to risk it.  We don't want it to be a cause of additional stress.  Assuming we  receive and approve the final draft by Sept. 28 (this coming Tuesday, which is the day promised by Print Divas), printing would start on Sept 29 and end on Nov. 8! Our wedding is on Nov. 27 so that means less than 20 days to distribute the invites.  We are both working on weekdays so that means we only have 2 weekends to distribute it.  So NO, we don't want to stress over it that close to our wedding day! Good decision, right? We think so...

Afterwards, we planned to go to Hizon's main office in Quezon City for our 3rd payment.  But with the traffic in Ortigas Avenue (we were infront of Meralco for more than 30 minutes, barely moving!), we decided not to push through with it.  Afterall, it's still a long way from Ortigas to Visayas Avenue in Quezon City.  So we decided to go home, have dinner and wait for F1 to start.

9.25.10 (Saturday)

The day started with us attending the christening of my new inaanak, France Theodore Boco, at Christ the King.  Congratulations again Jayrom and Chesca! God bless you always Baby France! =)

We then proceeded to Hizon's office and completed 75% of our payment.  Mayette wasn't there but Bing, was really nice to accommodate us even without an appointment.

We were planning to go to the SMX fair to book a mobile bar.  But Kit was already tired driving and I so wanted to watch the ADMU-FEU game.  So we decided to forego the fair and just rest and watch the UAAP game.  The game was great, mainly because Ateneo won!!! Woohoo!!! Go Ateneo, One Big Fight!

Now, we still have a problem. Who to book for the mobile bar? Any suggestions?

Inspirational Quotes on Marriage

Yesterday, a w@wie shared a link about Danny and Annie, a touching cartoon video about the couple's 27 year romance, from their very first date to Danny's last days with terminal cancer.  It was very sweet... yet sad... It used the real voices of Danny and Annie while recounting their story to StoryCorp, making it more real, more poignant.  Here's the link.  http://vimeo.com/12562270

To quote Danny, "When a guy is happily married, no matter what happens at work, no matter what happens to the rest of the day, there's a shelter when you get home.  There's a knowledge knowing that you can hug somebody without them yelling 'get your hands off me'.  Being married is like having a colored television set, you don't want to go back to black and white."   :-)

Another sweet line by Danny, "In my mind, in my heart, there has never been, there is not now, and never will be another Annie."  Aaww... How sweet is that?! :-)

Also last night, Kit and I both watched "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past" in HBO (at our respective house, i might add).  One line struck us, "I promise that when you wake up in the morning, i will be there... Everytime."

Yes, we promised each other that last night.

OT: The Hunger Games

I know this has nothing to do with wedding preps, but I just wanna share it. =)

I may sound really nerdy, but I love books!  I love reading! Mainly because books allow me to put myself in situations I would never have the guts to undergo in real life. Just like my recent read, The Hunger Games Trilogy.

The books are great!!! I thoroughly enjoyed reading them! Such a different storyline. Imagine this: 2 teenager representatives ("tributes" as they call it in the books) from the 12 districts of the country Panem, one arena, the Hunger Games... meaning the 24 tributes fighting to death until only one remains.  How different is that?! If that storyline is not enough for you, Suzanne Collins added a love story/triangle that makes it more appealing to her young readers (ahem!).  I for one, was confused as to who I want Katniss to end up with, her bestfriend Gale or her co-tribute Peeta. Haha!

Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, tributes of District 12.

Save the Date! and Monogram

Time to ask our family and friends to SAVE OUR DATE!!!

As for our monogram, I've asked one of our w@wie sisses, Sis Ann, to make one for us.  We just love it! Big thanks again Sis Ann! =)

Table Centerpieces

I've been thinking a lot about the reception set-up.  Although we're done with our detailing with Hizon's, somehow I'm not quite satisfied with it.  I kept on thinking if the set-up, flowers, table cloths, etc. match.  But Kit insisted that I don't mull over it saying that what we've chosen do match and are beautiful.  (But i think he's forced to say that knowing if he didn't, he'll never hear the end of it.  Hahaha.)  Plus our planner, Mayette, didn't say anything negative about it and in fact, when we asked if what she would choose if it was up to her, she said that she would choose the same thing.  Oh well... I can only hope that they really look good during the wedding.  Law of Attraction, think positive!!! =)

Anyway, here are some low table centerpieces I find interesting.  We are not fans of tall centerpieces mainly because it's a hindrance during photo ops time. Hahaha. :-p

I don't know if those are flowers but i think it looks nice. Definitely interesting.

This one, I like!
This is really cute.  Too bad we don't have a beach-themed wedding.
Isn't it nice if you could display your prenup pics or your bf-gf pics as centerpieces?  Or is it overkill already?
Simplicity at its best.
After all these pictures, you're probably wondering how ours looks like.  Well, it's a lot different from the ones above.  Haha. Ours are more "local", "native"...
Same stand, same bowls but blue flowers...

What do you guys think?

OT: Despicable Me

Watching movies once a week has long been a tradition for Kit and I.  It allows us to take a breather from the wedding preps.  I'm not saying that preparing a wedding is stressful, its just that... Well, sometimes it is. =p

Last weekend, we watched Despicable Me. And I couldn't be more excited (even if its not from Disney Pixar, which I'm a huge fan of).  I love watching cartoons!  I love the three kids! But I love Agnes the most! I mean, how could you not? She is just so cute and adorable! =)

Don't you just want to hug them?!

Overall, i enjoyed it! Not as much as the last cartoon movie I saw though. Sorry minions, but I still love Toy Story 3 more. =)

11.27.10

How time flies! It's been almost a year and 3 months since Kit and I started planning for our dream wedding. Some consider it a long engagement but for me, it was just right.  One, we had more than enough time to prepare, scour and choose our wedding suppliers.  Two, it allowed us to lock 2009 prices.  Three, it gave us a much more flexible payment schedule.  And lastly, it allowed us to change our minds quite a few times.  Not about getting married (because we're actually sure that we want to get married! haha!) but about motifs, suppliers, table centerpieces, gown designs, flowers and other wedding details that may seem mundane but very important nonetheless.

And now, we are down to our last 82 days as single individuals...

I'm scared yet eager.
I'm nervous yet excited.
I'm fearful yet courageous.
But most of all, I'm happy that I'm finally spending the rest of my life with him.

Kay Learns to Write

I've been wanting to try blogging for quite a while already.  It's only now however that I got the nerve to start one.  Why?  Well, for one, I'm not really a good writer. I'm actually scared that I'll write something senseless and bad and full of grammatical errors.  Hahaha! But then again, why would I let that stop me from creating my own blog.  It's MY blog afterall... my thoughts... my opinions... my fears... my dreams...  my life...

So friends, bear with me. =)
